Who's the lucky duo playing Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi?

Bollywood boys Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan may be vying for the chance to play musical legends Kishore Kumar and Mohammad Rafi in Arif Ali's second film, Sitaarey, according to a DNA India report.
The film is confirmed to be a musical saga; however, the identities of the singers it focuses on is yet to be officially revealed. Rumour has it that Sitaarey is based on the top two Bollywood singers back in the '70s, and it is no stretch of the imagination to suggest that the pair is none other than Kishore Kumar-Mohammad Rafi.
According to DNA India's source, “The film will reveal a tale of innocence set in a self-consumed, conniving environment. The casting is yet to be complete but the the team is looking at names like Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan to play the main leads."
Further, the source says, "Buzz is that the film has been inspired by the lives of two great male singing legends of that era — friends, yet competitors as far as their singing was concerned.”
The director has said that the film will follow a simple story, and producer Arjun N Kapoor has promised that careful attention will be paid to the re-creation of the '70s era.

Mohammad Rafi had the best voice ever....absolutely pure nectar. Kishore Kumar sang to your heart. When you wanted to listen to a genius, you listened to Rafi. When your heart was broken and you wanted a friend, who better than Kishore?

Kishore more versatile, can sing fast, funny, melody and sad.

No comparisons, both Legends in their own right. Each catered to a different type of music with Rafi (1950s-60s) & Kishore (1970s-80s).

Both the singer is legend they are the star in their own saga. I liked both of them no one is 19 in comparison, both are 20.

Comparing both the legends have sometimes communal angle when you look from Pakistani perspective. Mohammed Rafi is uncomparable so is Kishore Kumar but you tend to give more space to Rafi due to abovesaid angle. You always praise Noor Jahaan more than Lata only by this angle whereas both legends are superb but Lata is way ahead. Please be objective and give its due to the artist.

Rafi was good in romantic and sad numbers but he proved himself in comedy songs too. Most of johnywalker and mehmood songs were sang by rafi saheb. He was angel.

Rafi's voice had the magic of melting into actor's style he was singing for. Kishore's voice stood out amongst all. Hard to take a pick.

I grew up listening to M.Rafi songs, not so much Kishore Kumar. Either way, both defined Indian playback singing in the 60's and 70's. Famously when M.Rafi died Shami Kapoor said, his voice has died.

Looking forward for this movie as both Mohammad Rafi & Kishore Kumar are legends. I hope the director will pick Sonu Nigham to sing for Mohd. Rafi songs and either Kumar Sanu or Amit Kumar to sing Kishore Kumar songs!!!

No one can sing Bhajan(Listen GOPI) Like Mohamad rafi ....He was also Gem of Human too. Kishore was very Versatile ............I grew up listening Vividh Bharthi and Amin Sayani's Ceylon radio. ...............History.

Hard to pick between the two. Kishoreda was perhaps slightly ahead just due to longevity of his career. While Rafisaab was more soulful but had fewer hits. I would listen to both and rather not compare.

When I was young, in seventies, I liked Kishore. As I grew old I started liking Rafi Saab.
Both have seperate styles and are unique in their own way. Rafi, I think is a Singer's favorite , more than Kishore, his songs have longer shelf life.

70s saw Kishore da raced miles ahead of Rafi . And that is purely in terms of popularity and the songs that they both sang . Even the die hard Rafi fans and music composers like S D Burman , Laxmi Kant pyare lal , R D Burman switched to Kishore da . 70s was kishore and he never looked back till he died in 1987 . No one can twist these facts .
