Education standard

Published September 5, 2015

THIS is apropos the article ‘Quality of HR’ (Aug 21). The writer has rightly highlighted the dismal state of education in Pakistan. She has pointed out that during the interview (of Basic Scale-I) most matriculate applicants were unable to read a simple short passage.

I would like to add here that even graduates and post-graduates are unable to do simple numerical work even to the extent that they cannot work out simple percentage.

The authorities concerned need to have a proactive approach to ensure improvement in quality of our education if we want Pakistan to progress.
