The official at the Sindh home department said that the provincial administration banned pillion-riding under Section 144 (power to issue order absolute at once in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger) of the criminal procedure code and the ban would be effective from Friday midnight for two days — September 5 and 6.

“The ban shall not be applicable to women, children below the age of 12, senior citizens, journalists, personnel of law enforcing agencies and security agencies in uniform and employees of the essential services,” the official added.
