QUETTA: Qazi Abdul Wahid, a former DIG of police, was shot dead near his home in Sariab area on Wednesday night.

According to police, two men on a motorbike opened fire on his car in Arif Street. He suffered bullet injuries in head and face. Police took the body to the Civil Hospital.

“It appears to be an incident of targeted killing and the attackers were waiting for him near his residence,” a police official said. Police found 11 empties at the attack site.

Mr Wahid served on various posts, including SSP investigations and DIG operations. He retired in 2012 as DIG of Quetta.

Police registered a case against unknown men.
