MUZAFFARABAD: A couple and two other women were killed after their car collided with a university bus in the southern Poonch district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Monday.

Dr Rizwan Anwar Kiani, serving in the anatomy department of Poonch Medical College Rawalakot, was returning from neighbouring Bagh district to his Pak Galli village along with his spouse and three other women, when his car hit the bus of University of Poonch (UoP) near Hillan Bangoin village.

“While overtaking another vehicle, the car rammed into the bus coming from the opposite side with such a force that it was completely smashed, killing Dr Rizwan and his wife on the spot,” one witness told Dawn.

The other two women, identified as spouses of Arshad Kiani and Wilayat Kiani, succumbed to their wounds on way to the hospitals. Wilayat Kiani’s daughter survived with injuries.
