Asif Mujtaba scored a whopping 17932 runs in 291 First-class games at an average of 49.39.

Yet, he remains a forgotten man in Pakistan's cricketing circles where the true measure is solely the player's international record.

Mujtaba's performances in national colours were not as significant as his domestic record but experts and teammates agreed the left-handed middle-order batsman achieved far less than his potential.

In the 25 Tests that he played, the batsman from Karachi scored 928 runs while his 66 ODIs innings fetched him a total of 1068.

Mujtaba's understated demeanour meant that even his match-winning performances, such as the one against a mighty Australian side in 1987, failed to create a buzz.

Out of his 91 international appearances, Mujtaba would only be remembered as the man who hit Steve Waugh for that last ball six in 1992.
