QUETTA: At least two suspected militants were killed in Balochistan's Noshki district on Tuesday morning, security officials told DawnNews..

Khan Wasey, the spokesperson for Frontier Corps, said a search operation was conducted in the district after a tip off regarding the presence of miscreants in the area was received.

"Two miscreants were killed during the search operation," he said.

Security forces also claimed to have recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition during the operation.

Wasey said the miscreants were involved in attacks on security forces and civilians in the area.

He added they belonged to a banned militant organisation.

Balochistan has been experiencing a sharp rise in violence and targeted killings have become unusually common despite government's claims of tight security in the province. The largest province of the country by area, is home to a low-level insurgency by ethnic Baloch separatists. Al Qaeda-linked militants also operate in the region.

The province shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran.
