QUETTA: Three government departments have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for implementation of the gender equality programme.

The MoU signed by the departments of women development, social welfare and health is expected to help in providing psycho-social and medico-legal support to dwellers of Darul Aman and crisis centres.

The Women Development Department with the collaboration of Aurat Foundation is striving to combat gender-based violence by establishing resource centres and toll-free helpline in Quetta, Sibi and Khuzdar. Aurat Foundation, an NGO, is being backed by the US Agency for International Development.

Provincial secretaries, director generals of departments concerned and other officials were present during the signing ceremony.
