THE government has set Rs13,000 as the minimum wage but no one follows and obeys this order. Some industrialists pay workers only Rs5,000 to Rs8,000 per month.
Nowadays the electricity bill for using a fan and a bulb is Rs2,500, 20kg flour costs Rs700, five kilo of sugar Rs300, five litre cooking oil Rs820, five kilo of pulses Rs790, vegetables for one month cost Rs1,500, salt and spices Rs500, milk Rs1,500, meat Rs1,500, and house rent Rs30,00. These are average expenditures for two persons for one month, which is approximately Rs14,000.
If a person has two children how can a labourer meet the expenses if he is paid only Rs8,000 a month?
