PESHAWAR: One of the two alleged target killers who had escaped from police custody here on Wednesday was killed in a police encounter early on Thursday, while the other one was arrested.

The suspect had escaped from Gulabahr police station, while the police high-ups had ordered an inquiry against SHO Gulbahar. Two guards the SHO were also thrown behind bars.

A Gulbahar police official identified the slain target killer as Muneeb, a resident of Wazir Bagh, while Ishaq, a resident of Mohallah Baqar Shah, was arrested.

The official said that the police raided premises on the Ring Road where one of the suspects was killed in exchange of fire with the police. Another police official said that the encounter took place in Afridi Ghari and police also recovered arms and a motorcycle from their custody.

Police had arrested the suspect for killing a policeman, Janaat Gul, earlier this month.

Separately, the Hashtnagri police arrested three juveniles on the charge of killing a teenager following a street brawl on Wednesday.

DSP City Sahibzada Sajjad told mediapersons that complainant Mian Mohamamd Aamir reported to the Hashtngari police that three unknown persons killed his brother Kamal Shah, 17, after a spat when he was washing his car in Sikandarpura locality.

Mr Sajjad claimed that police arrested the alleged killers after acquiring CCTV footage from a local establishment near the crime scene.

He identified the accused as Ahmed Akmal, Shahbaz and Umair, class 9th, 8th and 7th students, respectively.
