KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), despite being in power for the past eight years in Sindh, has failed the people and also deprived the common man of water, sanitation, health, transport and other basic amenities. This was stated by leaders of the National Party (NP) led by its Karachi chapter organiser Farhat Perveen at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday.

Ms Perveen, who was accompanied by NP vice president Hameed Engineer and its Sindh chapter deputy secretary general Majeed Baloch, recalled that NP believes in democratic values, provincial autonomy and federation. After emerging as a major political force in Balochistan following the 2013 general elections, the NP formed a government in Balochistan and succeeded in controling the law and order situation, as well as improving health and education services. Balochistan was the first province where local body elections were held and power was transferred to the lowest level, NP representatives added.Party representatives also raised questions about K-Electric’s privatisation process, accusing it of adding to the miseries of people during the heatwave by indulging in unannounced loadshedding.
