MUZAFFARGARH: Police have registered a case against a secondary schoolteacher (SST) who got the grade-16 post on the basis of ‘forged’ documents.
Mudassir Hasan was appointed at the Government High School, Khangarh Doma, about 120 kilometres away from the city, some time back and his master’s degree has now turned out fake. A total of 13 cases have been registered against teachers in the last few months after their degrees were found spurious.
A source told Dawn that 20 teachers had got jobs on fake documentation during recruitment in 2015. He alleged that some clerks and monitoring department officials facilitated aspirants with dubious academic record in recruitment.
In January last, the education department had announced vacancies to be filled through the National Testing Service (NTS). He said 13 cases had been registered and he had also sent a report to the department higher-ups after which a verification from 2002 to 2014 had been launched.
District Coordination Officer Hafiz Shaukat Ali said he had constituted a committee to verify degrees as 20 cases of forged documents had surfaced recently. He said he had directed the EDO to appoint new candidates on merit.
The district education officer said the department had announced vacancies in different categories in January and forms and applications submitted by the applicants were scrutinised by a special team made by the DCO and EDO. During verification, he said, some documents were found bogus.
EDO (Education) Shamsher Sial said cases had been registered against suspects for the first time and verification campaign had been launched afresh. He said some PML-N MPAs were forcing him to not verify the recruitment of past years but the education secretary had firmly ordered to probe the matter.
