KARACHI: Upcoming all-rounder Saud Shakeel excelled with a good all-round performance to help K-Electric trounce Karachi Gymkhana Blues by 86 runs in the 30th Karachi Gymkhana Omar Associates Ramazan Cricket Festival at the KG Ground here on Wednesday.

Batting first, K-Electric, who were beaten in the opening fixture, posted an imposing 198-5 in the stipulated 20 overs thanked to a sparkling 96-run opening partnership inside the first 10 overs between Israrullah (54 off 31 balls, eight fours and two sixes) and Faraz Ali (43 off 31, four boundaries and two sixes).

After both were dismissed, Majid Khan (42 off 25, four fours and two sixes) was joined by Saud (39 off 23, two fours and one six) in a third-wicket stand of 81.

Karachi Gymkhana Blues, in reply, struggled to 112-7 in their response to the stiff chase.

Leg-spinner Shahzaib Ahmed Khan took three wickets for 20 runs while Saud returned figures of two for 20 to claim the man-of-the-match award.
