SHIKARPUR: Sindh Rangers on Wednesday lodged an FIR at the Garhi Yasin police station nominating 11 suspects in the ambush that left two paramilitary troopers dead and another one wounded a day earlier.

Deputy Superintendent Rangers (DSR) at Shikarpur Manzoor Jat stated in the FIR (76/2015) that the DSR in charge at Shikarpur Abdul Jabbar and his colleague Mushtaq Ahmed sustained fatal wounds in the ambush carried out by armed suspects near Khahi Mahar village. Another Rangers man, Asmat Hayat, also received gunshot wounds, he said.

DSR Jat said that the suspects who had taken position on both sides of the bypass road waylaid the Rangers’ mechanised convoy which was heading to the nearby forest area for an operation against gangs of criminals.

In a gun battle that followed, one of the attackers was killed and another one wounded and arrested while a passer-by was also killed, he said. He named the suspects in the FIR as Afgan Marfani, Amaan Tunio, Nawaz Marfani, Ali Nawaz Marfani, Kiwal Marfani, Babal Tunio, Ghulam Murtaza Marfani, Hussain Bukhsh Marfani, Shahbaz Marfani, Sikandar Marfani and Sha’aban Marfani.

The police have started an investigation but no arrests were made till late on Wednesday evening.
