CHARSADDA: The district administration on Tuesday raided the town’s bazaars and arrested 20 shopkeepers for overpricing and selling expired food items.

Additional deputy commissioner Charsadda Mir Akbar Khan and other officials visited the bazaars and inspected bakeries, general stores, butchers, fruit and vegetable shops.

The raiding officials found some traders selling expired edible items, including beverages, sweets and biscuits, and took 20 shopkeepers into custody.

The officials also directed traders to follow pricelists issued for the month of Ramazan, and maintain quality of goods and cleanliness around their shops.

Akbar Khan warned that the violators of the directives would be sent behind bars in addition to imposing heavy fines on them.
