PESHAWAR/LANDI KOTAL: At least 27 suspected militants were killed in air strikes in North Waziristan and Khyber tribal regions on Sunday.

According to official sour­ces, military planes pounded militant positions in Dabori and Gorbuz areas of North Waziristan’s Shawal tehsil early in the morning, killing 15 militants and injuring six others. Several suspected hideouts were destroyed.

Another 12 suspected militants were killed when air force planes pounded hideouts in Tirah valley, Khyber Agency. A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations said four militant hideouts were destroyed in Rajgal area, close to the Afghan border.

It said a large quantity of arms and ammunition were destroyed when some underground depots were hit. 

Meanwhile, a soldier, Ghulam Mustaffa, lost his life and three others were injured when militants attacked the Ghalanai security post.
