KARACHI: Mohammad Rizwan excelled with quickfire half-century to help Qasmi Gymkhana record a 19-run victory over Heroes CC in the third Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cricket Tournament at the Lawai Cricket Stadium late on Saturday night.

Batting first, Qasmi Gymkhana posted 162-8 in the allotted 20 overs with opener Rizwan striking five sixes and two boundaries in his 34-ball knock of 54.

Spinners Khalid Khalil and Khushdil Shah each claimed three wickets for 29 and 36 runs, respectively.

Heroes CC fell short of their target when they were dismissed for 143 with spinners Haris Khanzada (3-21), Abid Qasmi (2-18) and Ali Tipu (2-21) doing the damage.

Rizwan was declared man-of-the-match.

Meanwhile, BankIslami made a winning start in the competition on Friday night when they eased home by five wickets against Azad innovators.

Chasing 155, BankIslami scored the required runs with 11 balls left. Talha Fahim struck seven fours and one six in hitting 46.
