ISLAMABAD: The bodies of three members of a family were found on Thursday, from a flat they had rented in the city.

The police said that it appears to be a case of murder-suicide as a note was found on the body of the father and bore signatures of all the family members.

“Maybe it was suicide but the door was locked from the outside which arose suspicion. Further investigations are underway,” a police officer said.

The incident came to light when the family’s neighbours informed police that a flat in their building in I-11/1 was locked from the outside but the air-conditioner and TV were switched on.

The police arrived and found out that the family had moved in just three weeks ago.

When the police broke into the flat, they smelt a foul odour and found two bodies on the bed covered by a blanket.

The deceased were a woman and a teenage boy and a third body, of a man was found on a chair in another room. The police said that the deceased man was holding a pistol in his right hand.

A note was found on the body stating he had murdered his wife and son on June 14 and killed himself on June 16. The note was signed by all members of the family. The man further stated he had been blackmailed.

A police officer said the family were facing severe financial problems and were under a lot of debt. Investigations are underway.
