BADIN: The Badin district and sessions court on Tuesday allowed former home minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza to go abroad for three weeks.

Dr Mirza, through his counsel, filed an application in court stating that he wanted to go abroad for the treatment of his wife, former National Assembly speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza, as advised by renowned surgeon Dr Adibul Hasan Rizvi.

The court, after hearing arguments of the applicant’s counsel, permitted Dr Mirza to travel abroad.

The court also confirmed the interim bail granted earlier to the disgruntled and disowned leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party and his associates in seven cases after considering the submissions of the applicants’ counsel.

Meanwhile, Dr Mirza told reporters that he would return and continue to serve the people.

He said that the people had pinned hopes on PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, who he said, would lead the party like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto with his famous slogan of roti, kapra aur makan.

Commenting on reports that Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari was going to start her career in politics from his hometown, Badin, he said: “We are not worried. If sister Bakhtawar contests election from the constituency of my spouse (NA-225 Badin), may God make her victorious.”
