ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has expressed satisfaction over the conduct of local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“ECP expresses its satisfaction at the end of the polls for local bodies election in KPK province,” said a press release issued by the commission on Saturday.

It said the LB elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa involved a huge administrative exercise and were unique in enormity.

The commission said that in cases where complaints of corrupt practices, etc., had been received action would be taken according to law.

“In view of the scale of the electoral exercise and considering the security environment of the KPK province the overall performance of polling staff, security personnel, Pak Army, Returning Officers and District Returning Officers needs to be appreciated,” the statement said.

The commission said that felicitation was due to the brave voters for participating in the elections and upholding their democratic right, especially female voters who came out of their houses to exercise their right of franchise.

The ECP said it had been mandated by the Constitution to organise and conduct the elections honestly, justly and fairly, guarding against corrupt practices for which all executive authorities in the federation and provinces were bound to assist it.
