KARACHI: Law enforcers on Monday claimed to have killed three suspected militants belonging to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in an ‘encounter’ in Surjani Town.
According to officials, Pakistan Rangers and police jointly conducted a targeted raid on the Northern Bypass near Zero Point. Based on intelligence information that a group of ‘terrorists’ was present at Surjani and planning a sabotage activity in Karachi, the paramilitary force conducted the raid in the area in early hours of Monday, said the Rangers spokesperson.
On seeing the law enforcers, the ‘terrorists’ resorted to firing and during an exchange of fire three of them got killed while one soldier of the paramilitary force and an assistant sub-inspector also sustained wounds.
A suicide jacket, hand grenades, Kalashnikov and 0.9mm pistols were also recovered from their custody, said Surjani SHO Bashir Ahmed.
SSP-West Azfar Mahesar identified the deceased as Akhtar, Hidayatullah and Naveed, militants belonging to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
