Marathon seize bridge title

KARACHI: Team Marathon gathered 54.87 Victory Points (VPs) to win Karachi Bridge Association’s (KBA) team tournament here at the Aslam Hall on Sunday evening.

According to a KBA announcement on Monday, Marathon spearheaded by former BFAME pair champion Tariq Rasheed Khan with Gulzar Bilal, Shahin Iqbal and Pervaiz Mirza in their fold displayed brilliant tactical game to emerge winners.

Marathon outpaced Mushahid (18.54), GFQ (12.01) and Rafiq (16.73). They lost their third-round match to Anees (7.39) but still finished on top.

Anees — comprising Anees-ur-Rehman, Ghufran Ashraf, Shahab Khan, Tariq Zafar and Khalid Mohiuddin claimed second position with 53.98 VPs. They won three matches against Deuces (18.00), Masood (17.09) and Marathon (12.61) but lost to Foxy (6.29).

In the 22-team pair event, the in-form pair of Ziaulllah Baig and Hamed Mohiuddin registered victory over East West direction with a score of 58.89 per cent followed by Tariq Zafar-Nadeem Khalid (54.65 per cent).
