ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered on Monday fast-track work on important projects being completed under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and emphasised that funds lying unspent should be fully utilised.
Presiding over a meeting held at the PM House to review the PSDP, Mr Sharif called for allocation of funds in a proper manner and to the areas where they are needed most.
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal gave a presentation and an overview of the spending during the current financial year as well as proposed allocation for the next year, including projects which are part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as well as the LNG-based power projects.
The prime minister was informed that 72 per cent of the allocated amount of Rs525 billion had been released for the projects during the financial year 2014-15, said a statement issued by the PM House after the meeting.
The prime minister approved a change in the release mechanism of the PSDP funds in each quarter of the year for efficient use of funds.
