With announcement of release dates for several films nowadays, many may have forgotten about the much-awaited biopic Kaptaan based on the life of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, but to refresh memories it appears that the film is in its final stages of production.
Speaking to DawnNews, actor Abdul Mannan who plays Imran Khan in the film said that the film was nearly done but that some changes were to be made: "The film is almost done, but another aspect is to be added; because he got married again, so it will be updated soon."
Giving details about Kaptaan, he added: "I have tried my best to be Kaptaan. The movie is all about Imran Khan’s life; how he started his journey — from cricket to winning the World Cup, then his struggle for his cancer hospital and his marriage as well."
The cast includes Abdul Mannan as Imran Khan, Saeeda Imtiaz as Jemima Khan, Sonya Jehan as Imran's sister and Mehwish Nasir as Benazir Bhutto.
The biopic explores the politician's life and his transition from a cricketer to leading his party PTI. Although the film's trailer came out two years ago, the film is yet to make its way to cinema screens.
However, as Mannan says, it is expected that the film may soon be released.

Excellent, if any guy deserves a movie being made on him it is Imran Khan. From one of the greatest Cricket Allrounder to Philanthropist to a 25 year long Political Struggle , his life has seen all the peaks and troughs. Undoubtedly he has been the most talked about person in the last decade and that too between all social classes of Pakistan.
His followers love him, his Adversaries may choose to hate him but can never ignore Big Khan.

You may disagree with IK,s politics but you can,t doubt about his honesty, sincerity and willingness and there is not a single mother in Pakistan who will not wish about his son to become Imran Khan.

Political historians will write about it as first ever movement for ensuring the sanctity of votes of Pakistani voters (bullyes die down in history)....its just the beginning....

@Sh The problem with a film on any other politician is that the filmmakers will have to hide more facts about their lives than they can show. No such problem with Kaptaan. He has so, so many things to be proud of and none to be ashamed of. Can you say so about any of his contemporaries?

ok so the movie is coming i hope the movie doesn't come with cheap third class item songs(like billi in namaloom afrad and ayesha omer's song in kTL)... though i am not a big fan of Khan's governance in KPK but still i m waiting for the movie. lets c if the movie does justice with Khan's life or not.

A better movie would be a critical look at Bhutto. You may not like Bhutto and his policies (I do not) but you have to admit it makes a good movie.
"A young aristocrat grows up in luxury and goes to the finest institutions of higher learning, comes back to his homeland and is supported by dictatorial powers to rise in fame and glory. He then takes destiny in his own hand and uses populism to become the leader of a nation at a time when that nation is recovering from a traumatic civil war. In doing so, he fights entrenched religious end economics interests and the armed forces. He also unites the Muslim ummah. Then power corrupts him - he rigs elections, takes people's property, and other unwise dealings. This comes back to him when the entrenched interests fight back and hang him. He was not a hero, he was not a villain but he was someone Pakistan would remember forever"
Now that's a movie - not something about a guy whose story is still being written.

He doesn't look remotely like Imran Khan. They couldn't even bring his accent to being close to IK's. Why couldn't they get a British woman to do the British accent, that Jemima accent sounds so fake. This looks like a disaster.

Every cricket fan loves Imran Khan for his magical performance.Beyond that he engaged
on establishing a Cancer Hospital,a great service for horrified patients in the country,
besides paying great memorial service to his dear mother.His life in youth too,has been
of attention to many and enjoyed company of rich and famous personalities beyond his
country's borders.His joining politics is not surprising as any one in his position could
follow the track.His success in the mission is for people to decide.Making of film on
such a person is not amazing and box office hit may not be much in doubt.At least the
Indian subcontinent may like to watch the same.
