DACCA: President Mohammad Ayub Khan said today [April 27] one of Pakistan’s national aims was to enter the age of science and technology “as fast as we can”, adding that the scientists alone with their spirit of adventure could “discover” Pakistan.
President Ayub was inaugurating the Atomic Research Centre here, built at a cost of Rs1,00,00,000 with the latest architectural design in Ramna area. President Ayub said “our scientists could borrow the results of research done elsewhere and help us to adapt them to our needs or do original research on problems peculiar to Pakistan”. But the fact remains that it is only their efforts that can help us to make a real break-through, he said.—Agencies
[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies from Karachi], Dr Hussain Khatibi, Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Majlis and leader of the four-man Iranian cultural delegation, said on Monday night that Iqbal’s new expressions and words are indeed a new source of wealth to the Persian language and they have entered our dictionary and found immortality.
He said Iqbal provided [a] new link between Pakistan and Iran. Iqbal advocated that Iran and Pakistan were two souls in one body. He was speaking at a dinner given in honour of the Iranian cultural delegation by Iqbal Academy. Prof Lotafali Suratgar, Head of English Department of Teheran University, urged the elite and common people of Pakistan to understand the philosophy of Dr Iqbal and “the moment the elite of your country know of the philosophy of Dr Iqbal the old heritage will be revived”.
