ISLAMABAD: A joint working group on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is being constituted to start consultations with provinces on industrial parks and economic zones.

In this regard, a consolidated and inclusive plan on the roadmap to implement the CPEC projects will be presented to the prime minister to avoid any future discrepancy.

Chairing a meeting on the implementation of projects under CPEC, Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal stated on Thursday that the pyramidal structure of monitoring and evaluation is being created, envisaging prime minister’s involvement at the top and project site office at the bottom.

Each ministry will come up with a comprehensive plan within five days as to how impending challenges can be overcome and implementation process of CPEC projects can be strategised to ensure effective and timely execution of multiple energy and infrastructure projects.

He said an independent website is being set up to make all the details and information on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor accessible for the public.

The visit of Chinese president after nine years has made Pakistan the investment destination for investors at national and global level and 2015 is the implementation year for CPEC, he said.

The planning minister castigated negative narratives on CPEC and urged the political parties, bureaucracy, civil society and people to show national coherence on CPEC to defeat conspiracies of Indian media.
