It would have been sad if this hadn’t happened. If there’s any one person in the Indian film industry who deserves an honorary doctorate degree for his intellectual pursuits and an awe-inspiring body of work, it’s Gulzar. Kolkata University has announced that it will bestow on Gulzar sahib an honorary PhD. The widely respected lyricist and filmmaker has incredible accomplishments to his credit and has also trailed a blaze for a great many song writers and directors. Today a vast majority of lyricists in Bollywood blatantly copy his style and the way he uses metaphors in his poetry. So well done Gulzar sahib, you deserved it!
