Pakistan wants increased trade with India

HYDERABAD: Pakistan is interested in increasing bilateral trade with India but tensions at the Line of Control are affecting businesses, said Chief Executive Officer of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) S.M. Muneer.

He was talking to a group of journalists at a dinner hosted by Goharullah, president Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) in the honour of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) chairman Mian Mohammad Idrees and other federation leaders at his residence on Wednesday night.

Muneer said that the non-tariff barriers on the part of India were withdrawn and the current trade volume between the two countries stands at $2.5 billion, with Pakistan exporting goods worth $2 billion and trade volume of its imports is around $500 million.

Pakistan needs to do business with India for the simple reason that Pakistan has never had the worldwide business connections India has.

Our officials have no vision and Patriotism for the nation. Since 1989 I am self employed and living abroad., and trying to do business with Pakistan. But unfortunately our exporters are not trained for the international market. There is no concept of quality control. Our embassies and consulates are not active in Trade shows. First we need loyal people, then we can get positive results.

Yes business is good but at the same time the Pak Goverment should ensure that Locals should be able to earn their lively hood .
