ISLAMABAD: Two Islamabad Traffic Police officials were beaten up by a group of five and rescued by some passersby here on Monday, police said.

ASI Mohammad Mukthar and Constable Khadim Hussain were on duty at Kak Bridge.

The sources said the traffic police officials stopped two motorcyclists for not wearing helmets and riding the vehicles recklessly. When they were asked to produce licence for issuance of tickets they started arguing with the policemen, they said, adding later they started beating them black and blue.

As a result, the policemen fell unconscious, the police said, adding some onlookers tried to rescue them but they were also beaten up.

However, scores of people gathered there within minutes and rescued the policemen, they said, adding they also tried to overpower the attackers, but they started firing in the air and escaped.

However, they succeeded in capturing one of the riders.

Later, the police shifted the injured policemen to hospital.

Sihala police SHO, Ashiq Mehmood, when contacted, confirmed that the man had been captured by the people.

A man was shot at and injured by his sibling in Bhara Kahu over a land dispute.

The police said the land was owned by a family comprising five brothers from Mohmand Agency.

The family was divided over construction of a house over the land and was negotiating to sort out the issue during which they got annoyed over some point and started firing at each other.

As a result one of them suffered bullet injury and was shifted to hospital.
