NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Police claimed to have killed a bandit who carried the head money of Rs1.5 million in an encounter in Machur village about six kilometres from here on Saturday.

SSP Niaz Ahmad Chandio said at a press conference that police raided the village after receiving a tip-off that the bandit Parial alias Paro Vistro was having tea along with his accomplices at a canteen.

On seeing police approaching the canteen the bandit and his men opened fire and in an ensuing encounter Paro was killed while his accomplices managed to escape. The bandit was wanted by the police of Naushahro Feroze, Padidan, Bhirya and Tharushah in 53 cases of heinous crimes, said the SSP.

He said the bandit carried the head money of Rs500,000 which was recently recommended to be raised to Rs1.5 million.

Police showed journalists a Kalashnikov rifle which they claimed was found in possession of the bandit.

The body of about 45-year-old bandit was lying in the civil hospital morgue and nobody had turned up to receive it when the report was filed.
