KARACHI: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Omar Associates sealed the remaining two semi-final places in the Patron’s Trophy (Grade-II) Cricket Tournament after both departments recorded victories on the last day of the league rounds.

KPT needed just a short period of the third and final of action at the Sheikhupura Stadium to sink Candyland by nine wickets.

Candyland, who were 156-07 in their second innings at draw of stumps on Thursday, added 46 more runs before being dismissed for 202 with Yasir Hussain five wickets for 57 runs.

Needing just 32 for third victory in Group ‘C’, the leaders got home in only four overs.

Omar Associates got the better of Nadra by five wickets at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad to finish top of Group ‘b’ standings.

Their second win was set up by returning Pakistan left-arm paceman Mohammad Amir who grabbed seven wickets in the match.

After bowling out Nadra for 279 in the second innings, Omar Associates sprinted to their 141-run chase in just 20 overs.

K-Electric (Group ‘A’) and Khayaban-e-Amin (Group ‘D’) on Thursday had qualified for the last-four stage of the competition, the winners of which will be eligible to play first-class cricket in the Silver League tier of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship.
