KOHAT: The recruit training wing of the police on Saturday started training watchmen of the most vulnerable educational institutions in use of automatic weapons.

Professional sharp-shooters of police would initially train watchmen of 66 sensitive educational institutions located in KDA Town and Jungle Khel area.

Gradually, the scope of training would be extended to other schools, said an official, adding that the programme had been started on the directives of the provincial government after the terrorist attack on the Peshawar’s Army Public School.

The watchmen were trained in how to face an attack while ensuring theirs as well as the students’ safety. They were trained in how to hold a gun, hit the target precisely, its loading unloading and how to put out a stuck up bullet. They were also imparted skills in use of trigger-friendly Kalashnikovs as terrorists used most sophisticated weapons during attacks.
