ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Ambassador to Germany Syed Hasan Javed said on Saturday that all out efforts would be made to set up an Iqbal Museum at the house in Heidelberg, Germany where Allama Mohammad Iqbal stayed for his PhD studies.

This project would be accomplished with the support and cooperation of the expatriate Pakistanis living in Germany.

He was addressing the participants of a literary conference on 'Iqbal's Message and Contemporary Issues' organised by the Human Welfare Association, Frankfurt at Iqbal Memorial Park on the Bank of River Neckar in Heidelberg.

Javed directed the Consul General of Pakistan in Frankfurt to form a committee comprising prominent Pakistanis living in Frankfurt and its adjoining cities including Heidelberg to take up the matter with the city government for the acquisition of the property, a press release said.

He said that there was a need to understand the message of the great thinker and philosopher in its true spirit for forging unity among various factions of the Muslim societies and reactivate the institute of Ijtehad, to deal with the challenges of modern day societies as envisaged by Iqbal.

Dr Sayed Taqi Abedi, Vice President of Banul-Aqwami Urdu Conference, Canada, in his talk, said that there existed a deep relationship between Iqbal's poetry and Heidelberg. He added that Allama Iqbal wrote 'Javed Nama' at the bank of this river and his literary work had a great influence on the people living in south, south-west and east Asian countries.

He eulogised Iqbal's literary work and explained the meanings and the message concealed in his poetic work.
