LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to direct the Lahore regional tax office (RTO) to accept refund applications from all the sectors covered under SRO 1125.

“The Lahore RTO has not been accepting refund applications from five sectors since Oct 4, 2013,” LCCI President Ijaz A. Mumtaz said on Thursday.

He said that all other RTOs in the country had been processing refund applications under Rule 33 of the Sales Tax Refund.

“Despite clear instructions of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to release sales tax and income tax refunds at the earliest, the officials concerned are creating hurdles for the businessmen by not accepting their claims,” he said while urging the FBR chairman to take notice of the situation.
