LONDON: Gold steadied on Tuesday as the dollar eased against a basket of currencies, helping the metal to recover from early losses that briefly pulled it below $1,200 an ounce.
Spot gold was unchanged at $1,206.03 an ounce at 1548 GMT, having dropped by nearly 1 per cent to a session low of $1,194.90.
US gold for April delivery lost $4.00 to $1,204.40 an ounce, still a 1pc rebound from an earlier low of $1,194.60.
Spot silver fell 0.2pc at $16.32 an ounce, while palladium rose 0.2pc to $829.25 an ounce and platinum edged 0.4pc higher to $1,190.25 an ounce.
