TIMERGARA: The Ouch police on Monday arrested two women and a taxi driver for attempting to kidnap three children from Adenzai.

A police official told Dawn that two women named Mussarat Bibi and Maqbol Bibi kidnapped three schoolchildren from Shah Alam Baba village tried to take them away in a cab. However, he said that the children identified as Abdul Aziz, Ishaq and Suhail raised alarm.

He said that the police stopped the car at Jango checkpost and took the women along with the cab driver into custody. The cab driver belongs to Kamal Khan village of Adenzai while the women (mother and her daughter) are from Gul Bahar area of Peshawar who had been staying at Zafar Park Batkhela for last 15 years.

The police registered a case against the three suspects and sent them to district jail, Timergara.

Addressing party workers on the occasion, he said that it was the responsibility of the federal government to ensure that horse trading didn’t’ take place in the upcoming Senate elections. He said that reports about alleged selling of votes by provincial lawmakers had dented their reputation.

The function was also addressed by former provincial minister Mehmood Zeb Khan, PYO provincial general secretary Alam Zeb Khan, PPP Lower Dir president Khurshid Ali Khan, PYO Dir president Hanif Khan.

Senator Hassan admitted that the PPP had ignored its workers during the previous government in order to oblige coalition partners both at the centre and in the provinces.

He said that other political parties had been taking credit for launch of the gas project for the district, which he said was made possible by former PPP MNA Malik Azmat Khan.

Mr Hassan said that a meeting of the PPP genuine workers would be convened soon to reorganise the party in the district. He said the PPP would take active part in the upcoming local government polls and would win majority of seats both in Upper and Lower Dir districts.

SCHOOLS REOPEN: All the government schools reopened in the district on Monday after two and a half months winter vacations.

The schools were closed soon after the attack on Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16, while the winter vacations started from December 22.

During the vacations, managements were directed to raise the boundary walls, install CCTV cameras and complete fencing around the buildings. Officials of district administration visited different schools from Feb 25 to 28 and expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements.

The district education officer, male and female, directed the teaching and non-teaching staff to ensure their presence in the educational institutions, otherwise strict action would be taken against them.
