LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said all-out resources are being utilised for completion of energy projects speedily.

Addressing a meeting to review steps regarding progress on energy projects here on Saturday, the chief minister said overcoming energy crisis was the main priority of the government.

“Every effort is being made to cope with the energy crisis. The energy projects will have to be completed at every cost for progress and prosperity of the country and all-out resources will be provided for execution of projects,” he said.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Chinese investors associated with energy sector called on Shahbaz Sharif and discussed prospects of investment in energy sector in Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said there was a great scope for investment in energy sector.
He said the facilities were being provided on a priority basis for investment in the energy sector. He said the programme of generation of energy through coal, hydel, solar and other sources in Punjab was being implemented.

“There are vast opportunities of generating energy through solar in Punjab. The government has completed a 100MW project at Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park, Bahawalpur, from its own resources. Planning has also been made for further generating 900MW solar power,” he said.

The chief minister said the government had decided to set up LNG power plant near Sheikhupura and more than 1,000MW electricity would be generated from it. “The federal cabinet has given approval to setting up of energy projects through LNG at three different places in Punjab and a total of 3,600MW electricity will be generated from these projects,” he added.
