PESHAWAR: A couple was among three people killed by unidentified persons in separate incidents here on Friday.

According to police, the couple was shot dead in Badbher area. They said that the woman identified as Kalima Jana was killed inside her house, while her husband, Sharifullah, was gunned down while on way home.

The police that the couple had married some 14 years ago against the will of their elders and had escaped to Lahore. They recently returned to Peshawar to be killed by unidentified persons. “We are investigating the case and will definitely arrest the suspected killers,” said an official.

Similarly, another man identified as Qaiser was killed in Hayatabad industrial area while he was on way to his workplace. An official of local police said that the victim belonged to Kohat district.

“The incident seemed to be sectarian as the victim belonged to Shia community,” an official of Hayatabad police said, adding that the attackers were riding a motorcycle. A case against unknown the attackers was registered.

Meanwhile, the Peshawar district administration on Friday imposed ban on unnecessary use of loadspeaker in mosques. An official notification issued here said that deputy commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud issued the order for a month under section 144. It said that the loadspeakers would only be used for prayer calls and Friday sermons.
