ISLAMABAD: A four-member squad will represent Pakistan in their Davis Cup tie against Kuwait, being held in Sri Lankan capital from March 6.

According to the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), Aqeel Khan, Ahmed Chaudhry and non-playing captain/coach Rashid Malik, were scheduled to leave for Colombo on Friday night.

While Abid Ali Akbar will come from the US to join the team in Colombo on Sunday, Aisam-ul-Haq, currently playing in the Dubai ATP Championships, is expected to make the squad on March 2.

According to a PTF spokesman, Abid and Ahmed, who were selected through trials, will make Davis Cup debut in Colombo.

During the Kuwait-Pakistan tie Aisam and Aqeel will receive the recently announced ITF Davis Cup Commitment Award.

Hameed-ul-Haq, the third Pakistan player to have been nominated for this award, will be receiving it in Islamabad during the month of April.

The Kuwait clash had been allotted to Pakistan but due to current security issues, the PTF had to shift the tie to a neutral venue (Sri Lanka).
