FAISALABAD: A number of people staged a protest demonstration against the alleged rape of a four-year-old girl in Gulfishan Colony on Jhang Road on Thursday.
Reports said ‘S’ was subjected to rape by a suspect who was caught by the locals. The enraged people gave him a sound thrashing and handed him over to police.
Blocking traffic on Jhang Road, the protesters said the suspect was escaping after allegedly raping the girl when they overpowered him and handed him over to police.
The girl was sent to hospital where doctors had confirmed rape.
Lyallpur Town SP Atif Akram said the suspect had been arrested.
CONFERENCE: A two-day national conference on forensic medicine and toxicology will be held here on Friday (today) at the Chenab Club.
The event being organised by the Punjab Medical College department of forensic medicine will be attended by forensic experts from across the country.
Dr Khurram Sohail Raja, head of Forensic Medicine of PMC, said title of the conference would be recent advances in forensic medicine and forensic sciences: Need for proactive forensic approach.
He said importance of the subject of forensic medicine and toxicology in medical curriculum would also be part of the event.
