KARACHI: An alleged gangster of Lyari was shot dead in an encounter on Thursday evening. Police said that Naveed alias Commondo was killed but his accomplice managed to escape during a search operation in the Baghdadi area.

“He was a member of Wasiullah Lakho gang and involved in short-term kidnapping of residents of Clifton and Defence,” claimed SSP-City Fida Hussain.

‘Robber’ killed in Gulshan

A suspected robber was shot dead in an encounter with police in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Thursday, police said.

They said that four bandits entered a house in Gulshan 13-D/1, held inmates at gunpoint and started collecting cash and valuables. In the meantime, a police team reached the place and in an ensuing encounter one of the robbers was killed. His accomplices managed to flee, they added.

The identification of the deceased could not be made till late in the night.
