KARACHI: A young man was shot dead in the Defence area, police said on Thursday.

They said that armed motorcyclists intercepted the car of 28-year-old Ahmed Khan on Khayaban-e-Ittehad, fired at him and rode away. Mr Khan, who was travelling with a friend, sustained bullet wounds in the head and was taken to a private hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Later, the body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The victim was said to be the son of a former judge.

“We have got some clues to the possible identity and motive of the attackers and hope to arrest them within the next few days,” said SSP-South Tariq Dharejo. However, he ruled out that it was a robbery bid.
