SUKKUR: Sukkur range police equipped with helicams and bullet-proof vehicles intensified their operation against dacoits in upper Sindh to curb kidnappings for ransom, dacoities and other heinous crimes.

With the help of helicams, a large police force comprising personnel from many police stations using bullet-proof vehicles made inroads into the Shah Belo thick forests infested with criminals on Thursday. They claimed to have rounded up eight suspects and were on the hunt for notorious criminal, Munir Misrani and his gang members.

Meanwhile, Rangers and police carrying out a joint operation in Kandhra, arrested a suspect and identified him as Zafar Janwari, who is wanted by police in 14 cases of heinous crimes registered against him at different police stations.

Relatives of Jawed Janwari held a sit-in in protest against his ‘killing in custody’ and claimed that Zafar Janwari and Lal Dino were also in the custody of the law-enforcement agencies. They said that Jawed Janwari had been released on bail about two months back after serving out a jail term.
