TOBA TEK SINGH: A court bailiff raided on Tuesday the Gojra city police station and rescued student engineer Sajjad Haider who was being held there without any case.

Ahsan Raza, of Gojra, filed a petition in the court of District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Yar Wallana that police had held his brother unlawfully. When the bailiff recovered Haider, police showed his arrest in a theft case on the amended statement of complainant of the case.

The complainant appeared before the judge and said he did not give any statement against Haider but the investigation officer got his signature on a paper.

The judge ordered immediate release of Haider and directed the district police officer to register a case against the investigation officer.

LOOTED: Robbers looted Rs3.5 million from a currency exchange shop after injuring two employees on Tuesday in Gojra.

According to the city police, Faisalabad’s money changer Rana Iftikhar Ahmad, Jhang’s cashier Faisal Iqbal and security guard Shabbir were opening the shop, when three motorcyclists arrived there and held them at gunpoint.

They shot at and injured Iqbal and Shabbir over resistance and took away Rs3.5 million and the gun of the guard. Both injured were admitted to Gojra THQ Hospital.

DIES: A two-year-old baby drowned in a water tub in Chak-427 JB in Gojra area.

Gojra Sadar police said the daughter of Sajid was playing in the house when she fell into the tub and died instantly.

ARRESTED: Personnel of some law-enforcement agencies raided two villages of Gojra on Tuesday and picked up three people, including two brothers, for having links with a banned religious outfit.

Sources said the team arrested brothers Sajid and Zahid from Chak 297-JB and Arif from Chak 298-JB.

KIDNAPPED: Five men kidnapped a 20 years old girl from Chak 372-JB in Gojra.

According to Gojra Sadar police, `S’ was alone at home when accused Amir Hussain and his four accomplices forcibly bundled her into their car and fled.
