SAHIWAL: A woman has got five CNICs from the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) by concealing her identity during the last 10 years, it is learnt.

The police are investigating the woman, a resident of 90/9-L village’s Manzoor Colony, and some officials of Nadra who are presumed to have helped her. Her brother Munir is a wireless operator at the Yousafwala police station.

Quite interestingly, her CNIC number, face structure and biometric identities remained same but she kept changing her marital status from widow to married and married to unmarried. She contracted marriages with ‘many people’ during all these years.

Documents collected from sources revealed that Rizwana Kausar, 32, kept changing her identity by showing herself as unmarried, married and widow to get CNICs.

In 2002, she tied the knot with Muhammad Sabir but took divorce two years later. Then she married Zakir Husain Ijaz, a teacher in a city school, on Feb 10, 2005.

She got her first CNIC (36502-3958651-8) as wife of Zakir Husain from Nadra’s local office on April 16, 2005.

Having ‘developed differences’ with Zakir, she sought separation on July 7, 2007, and later went to Nadra office and got a duplicate CNIC claiming that she had lost the original one. This card shows her status as wife of Zakir Husain.

In 2009, she succeeded in getting third CNIC which shows her as “unmarried girl” and daughter of Naik Muhammad. Naik Muhammad’s card number is (36502-1304445-3).

Kausar contracted another marriage in 2011 and applied for an identity card by showing her as wife of Muhammad Abbas, who had been residing in Dubai. She got the card after some time. But she got divorce from Abbas and succeeded in getting another CNIC as widow (of Abbas) from the same Nadra office.

Kausar’s ex-husband Zakir Husain lodged an FIR against her for contracting ‘another’ marriage without getting divorce from him. Zakir alleged that Kausar and his in-laws were part of a “racket” and a local prayer leader fraudulently solemnised her nikkah.

Zakir told this correspondent that Kausar and his family were part of a gang which deprived people of their property.

The police are investigating the suspect as well as two Nadra officials.

A source in Nadra office claimed that the issuance of one CNIC after another was possible on the basis of valid nikahnama and divorce papers.
