LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday allowed the district coordination officer to continue crackdown on restaurants/cafes serving “oxygen shots” to visitors.

Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan was hearing petition of a café on M.M Alam Road challenging action taken by the district administration against serving oxygen shots, an energy boosting and relaxing therapy by inhaling pure oxygen.

DCO Muhammad Usman appeared before the court and stated that the use of oxygen shots was a health hazard. He said the use of these shots could prove fatal. He stated that the oxygen shots should be declared a narcotic.

The judge directed the DCO to take stern action against the cafes serving oxygen shots and submit a report on March 3.

The judge also sought assistance from the attorney general on the matter.
