KARACHI: A man who was said to be associated with the Tableeghi Jamaat was gunned down by armed motorcyclists in Manghopir on Wednesday, said police officials.

Sajjad Riaz Mehsud was standing with his friend, Zia Rehman, when two armed men on a motorcycle attacked him near Sultanabad and fled. He sustained critical injuries and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Manghopir SHO Ghulam Hussain Korai said the victim associated with the Tableegi Jamaat had just come out of his home in Landhi to meet his friend when he came under attack.

He said the police had taken his friend into custody for interrogation. Police had found certain clues to the identity of the attackers who belonged to the Mehsud tribe, he added.
