PR clarification

Published January 27, 2015

REFERENCE the letter ‘Train service’ (Jan 24), it is clarified that the Jhang-Sargodha railway section was restored on Jan 18, and that Sandal Express (139 Up/140Dn) and Hazara Express (11 Up/12 Dp) are running on this section. Earlier they were diverted to an alternative route in view of repair works between September 2014 and January 2015.

As for the restoration of Jhang Express running some time ago between Jhang and Rawalpindi, it was one of the trains which was incurring major losses and, hence, was closed.

As and when the condition improves, and commercial viability develops, such trains may be restored.
