MANSEHRA: Federal Minister for Haj and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Mohammad Yousuf has said that publication of blasphemous caricatures is an attempt to destroy the world peace and interfaith harmony.

“Making the caricatures of apostles of Allah is not the freedom of speech and expression as the United Nations bars hurting sentiments of the people of any religion through committing blasphemy of their prophets,” said Mr Yousuf after inaugurating a hotel here on Saturday.

He demanded that the UN probe to take to justice the editor and staff of the French weekly that made blasphemous sketches in an attempt to destroy the world peace.

“We will never allow anybody to commit blasphemy as such an act is never tolerated by people of any religion,” he said.

The federal minister said that the Pope had also condemned in strong words the publication of the blasphemous caricature, saying that “one who hurts the sentiments of people of any religion should also get ready for consequences”.
