LAHORE: A group of lawyers on Thursday gave a thrashing to a litigant in the sessions court, ignoring the presence of the judge.

The victim, Shakeel Husain, had come to the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Munir Ahmad to record his version in a petition filed by one Khalid Mahmood.

However, attorneys for Mahmood did not let Husain testify before the judge and started beating him up. They, at least 25 in number, freely used kicks and fists while beating Husain whose face was bleeding while the judge and others just looked on, said an eyewitness. The ‘advocates’ did not bother to acknowledge the presence of the judge and went away after ‘completing’ their job, he added. The judge sent a reference to the district and sessions judge along with the case file, narrating the whole episode.
